Thalassa Larimar and Copper Wire Wrapped Pendant

This is the first piece of larimar I've had the opportunity to work with, and it's even lovelier in person. It's all the warm, bright blues of a tropical sea, crystallized into a stone. I left the lines rather clean on this piece, so as not to detract from the stone itself. The bezel is woven copper, antiqued and polished, with a finely woven bail. Thalassa measures 5.5 cm (just over 2 inches) long, and 2 cm (about 3/4 of an inch) across at the widest point. The pendant comes ready to wear with a necklace cord.

In the lore surrounding metals and gemstones, larimar is a perfect harmony of sea and sky. It embodies tranquility and restfulness, and is thought to calm worries and soothe ragged tempers. Copper is thought to improve circulation and relieve pain. It's associated with the sun and with luck, and is believed to enhance the properties of gemstones.
